Welcome to the Burrow

Nicole Dawn Halldorson

Founder of the The Literacy Burrow and Certified Orton Gillingham Practitioner in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Nicole obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and spent many years working for the Saskatoon Public School Division. She has completed training through the Orton Gillingham Academy and the Reach Learning Centre in Vancouver, including a supervised practicum.

Nicole began researching the Orton Gillingham approach after her son was diagnosed with having low cognitive abilities and difficulty in his ability to process language. She was determined to do everything she could to help him with his learning. After two months of weekly sessions, his teachers commented on how much his confidence had grown with his letter recognition and sound symbol association.

Nicole believes that children who struggle with language or the ability to read are extremely gifted and talented individuals. These children often have a rich and creative inner world. No child should be left behind or feel stupid, simply because they are not given specialized instruction made for them. She is passionate about ensuring that all children receive the proper supports in order to help them thrive and reach their full potential.
